ONF Steering Committee Meeting Summary 23rd April 2026

Thank you to everyone who continues to follow and support the work of the Ottershaw Neighbourhood Forum. Here’s a clear roundup of what we covered at the meeting held on 23rd April, attended by local councillors and Forum Steering Committee (SC) members.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

🏘️ Neighbourhood Plan Progress

The evidence base is now complete and the draft Neighbourhood Plan is ready for wider sharing. We’ve also sent the draft Design Code to Berkeley Homes so they can better understand what the village expects from future development. Work continues on preparing the communications and consultation materials to share with you shortly!

💻 New Website Coming Soon

Our new website is almost ready to go live! Final checks are underway, including uploading the Neighbourhood Plan documents and evidence base. We’re aiming for a soft launch around the time of the AGM so members can start exploring it.

🏡 Engagement with Berkeley Homes

We’ll be meeting with Berkeley Homes soon as they are already engaging with the Council on developing their land. The focus is on principles — making sure any ideas they bring forward can be assessed against the community’s priorities. We have shared the draft plan with Berkeley Homes which we will also be sharing with you all shortly too. We want to reassure everyone, nothing is being agreed behind closed doors; this is about keeping dialogue open and constructive and getting them to understand that if they are going to develop, they do it with the villages interests in mind.

📄 Planning Updates

We reviewed current planning matters, including the Sunnyside enforcement case (now with the Planning Inspectorate) and a query about works on Foxhills Road.

🚧 STOP PRESS: Ottershaw Roundabout Update

Thanks to persistent pressure from Ottershaw residents, our SCC Councillor and MP have now set up weekly meetings with Surrey County Council and the construction contractor.

SCC has confirmed that:

🌳 Roundabout works are temporarily paused  They are investigating:

  • The extent of tree and woodland clearance

  • Whether Veteran tree roots were properly protected

SCC will decide what further steps are needed once investigations are complete. This wasn’t originally on their agenda — it’s happening because the community has kept the pressure on.

📅 What’s Next?

  • Website launch coming soon

  • More updates on the roundabout as soon as we have them!

Thank you for staying engaged and supporting the work of the Forum — Ottershaw’s voice is being heard 💚

🗓️ Upcoming Meetings

  • May 12th: Steering Committee meeting

  • June 9th: Steering Committee meeting

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We’re committed to transparency and collaboration as we move forward with these important pieces of work. Stay tuned for more updates, and don’t forget to check the blog regularly for the latest news.
